Solo-developed 90s-style manager adds a full country editor with 78
templates, Brazil as a new playable nation, and a rebalanced economy.
Free on Android, Steam, itch.io and in the browser.
Rudolstadt, Germany, 27 July 2026 - Independent studio Digitale
Manufaktur Rudolstadt has released version 2.1.0 of its retro football
manager Whistle1, known as Anpfiff1 in German-speaking countries. The
update is the largest content addition since the game launched and is
free for all players.
The centrepiece is a country editor that lets players build entire
football nations from scratch. Number of divisions, teams per division,
promotion and relegation places, playoffs and the structure of the
national cup can all be defined freely. 78 country templates ship with
authentic city lists and derby pairings, so a newly created nation feels
established from its first season rather than generic. A "god mode"
applies editor changes to a running career immediately, without a
restart or a new save.
Brazil joins as the seventh playable country, with three divisions, its
own national cup, its own currency and its own continental competitions.
Unlike the European cups, the South American competitions run with a
genuine group stage of 32 teams in eight groups of four, and clubs from
the same nation are kept apart in the draw. Prize money, sponsorship
levels and ticket prices follow South American economics rather than
European ones, so a Brazilian club operates in a noticeably different
financial reality.
Version 2.1.0 also adds three management systems: pitch-side advertising
that scales with stadium size, a fan shop that can either be run in
house with full control over production runs, pricing and stock risk or
licensed out for a flat fee, and hireable staff across five levels,
including physiotherapist, fitness coach, assistant coach, goalkeeper
coach and scout. An employed assistant coach can set the lineup on
request, choosing the strongest, best-form or freshest eleven.
Under the hood, the update rebalances transfers, player development and
club finances. Player valuations now follow quality rather than the
division a player currently occupies, closing a loophole that made
buying and reselling lower-league players a reliable source of profit.
Club income, which previously scaled with success while costs stayed
flat, is now offset by realistic operating expenses, taxes and
end-of-season payouts, and AI clubs receive the same treatment so
leagues stay economically healthy across long careers.
Whistle1 remains free with no advertising paywalls, no energy systems
and no pay-to-win mechanics. The update brings the game to 48 interface
languages, adding Arabic, and introduces a choice of more than 60
display currencies.
