Pompeii: The Legacy – Final Demo Now Live for Steam Next Fest, Alongside a New Trailer
Set in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii: The Legacy is a city-building strategy game that blends historical authenticity with deep gameplay systems. Players take on the role of a Roman noble tasked with founding and developing a city near Pompeii, guiding it through multiple generations. From urban planning and trade logistics to research, politics, and personal family legacy, the game offers a rich, layered experience set around 100 A.D.
Today marks a major milestone in the project, as the final demo for Pompeii: The Legacy goes live as part of Steam Next Fest. This new demo is the most complete version shown so far and introduces several major systems that were not present in the previous public playtest.
Highlights of the new demo include:
- Full Sandbox Mode: Players can build without time constraints, exploring the depth of city systems at their own pace.
- Trade System: Connect your settlement to other Roman cities and provinces by ship, manage resources, and establish strategic trade routes.
- Expanded Research Tree: Dozens of new perks are available, including a completely new branch — Social Research, which introduces bonuses tied to culture, education, and urban development.
- New Buildings and Decorations: The demo now includes additional production chains, shrines, decorative elements, and improved layout options.
- Improved Map and Visuals: A hand-painted regional map now highlights neighboring cities and trade options, while many buildings and terrain details have received visual upgrades.
During Steam Next Fest, at least two more significant demo updates are planned, adding new features and polish. I’ll also be actively listening to player feedback to improve the game based on what players enjoy, and what they feel still needs work.
Alongside the demo, a brand-new trailer has been released, showcasing the current gameplay visuals, city-building systems, and the atmosphere of ancient Pompeii in motion.
