Around the world, August 31, 2022 - Today, a selection of the top independent Playdate developers from the Playdate Squad community announced the Playdate Community Bundle, a collection of 13 of the best-selling and top-rated games for Playdate from itch.io collected into a single, wonderful bundle. , . The bundle is available from 31st August 2022 until 7th September 2022 for $29 USD, exclusively via itch.io and represents a saving of more than 50% vs. purchasing individually .
Whilst Playdate owners receive two official games per week for the first 12 weeks, the broader community development scene for the console is already thriving with over 300 games and apps available to sideload. It’s hoped that the bundle will raise further awareness for the large volume of quality community-based games, which are already available via the “sideloading” on the console.
“New game launches for the Playdate have often had promising initial numbers, but we think with a little extra push these games could reach an even bigger audience. There is a staggering amount of diversity and quality among the third-party content for the Playdate that players would enjoy diving into as their Season 1 ends.” said Ledbetter, Developer of ART7 for Playdate.
Ledbetter continued, “The team began looking into different initiatives to elevate the itch.io Playdate marketplace which ultimately led a few of us to creating the first unofficial side season, containing some of the best games available on the market. We have such a great, engaged community and believe that creating curiosity around these games will ultimately keep Playdate players playing more and even becoming interested in developing their own games!”
