Overwolf Acquires MCPEDL, One Of The Largest Platforms For Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Content

For Immediate Release

Tel Aviv, Israel — November 23, 2021 — Overwolf, the all-in-one platform that enables creators to build, share, and monetize in-game apps and mods, today announced the acquisition of MCPEDL, one of the largest community websites for downloadable content for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. This strategic business move marks Overwolf’s continued efforts to accelerate the community-created content movement.

As one of the largest Minecraft online communities in the world, MCPEDL has provided downloadable content including add-ons, maps, mods, and texture packs to Minecraft fans since its launch in 2014. The platform has amassed 8,500 active creators and over 5 million monthly active gamers.

“Today marks a new chapter for MCPEDL as I will be passing on the torch of ownership to my friends at Overwolf. A dedicated team at Overwolf will be in charge of continuously improving MCPEDL to be the best Minecraft content manager out there and Overwolf will also help lay the groundwork for monetization to ensure that creators are paid for their contributions. I have full confidence that MCPEDL creators will be in good hands and the best is yet to come for MCPEDL and the community,” commented John Zenkert, MCPEDL Founder.

Today, over 95,000 creators are able to benefit from Overwolf’s commitment to helping mod authors and in-game creators build, distribute and monetize their in-game apps and mods. As MCPEDL transitions to Overwolf ownership, one of the company’s main areas of focus will be to ensure that all creators have the opportunity to generate an income from their creations. The MCPEDL community will receive 360-degree support through access to technology, mentorship, acceleration, marketing services, and monetization options.

“We’re excited to welcome the MCPEDL community into our growing guild of in-game creators and gamers, as we continue to empower the in-game creator community to make a living doing what they love. Supporting creators’ success has always been at the center of everything we do, and we are honored to be the new home for one of the largest Minecraft communities, as we work together to level up gaming experiences,” commented Overwolf CEO and Co-founder, Uri Marchand.

Overwolf is dedicated to being as transparent as possible around the transition and has a development roadmap that the community can follow here. To leave a suggestion about the direction of MCPEDL, please share feedback on the ideas portal.
