Soundtrack
Neyyah’s atmospheric original soundtrack includes 29 tracks composed by Neyyah’s creator Aaron Gwynaire, and 55 tracks composed by 14-year-old Zaedyn Turner. This aural tapestry of melodic worldbuilding immerses players in Neyyah’s island setting., shifting seamlessly between moments of wonder, tension, and discovery.
Every piece has been crafted to echo the game’s puzzles, landscapes, and cut-scenes, ensuring that the music is not just a backdrop, but an integral part of the player’s emotional journey.
Interesting Facts
Neyyah is well-known for activating strong nostalgia in people who played point-and-click adventure games in the nineties. Aaron has meticulously recreated the pre-rendered slide-show format of retro point-and-click games, whilst incorporating stunning 3D graphics, creating a world that is simultaneously of its time, and timeless.
Whilst the Neyyah world is very much Aaron’s creation, the development process was highly collaborative, especially the planning and production of Neyyah’s (soon-to-be iconic) FMV cut-scenes. The Perth-based cast includes Aaron’s ex-wife and stepchildren, alongside several well-known actors from Perth’s theatrical community.
Zaedyn Turner was aged between ten and fourteen years old when he worked on Neyyah.
In addition to playing one of the characters, Zaedyn recorded and edited all the actor voiceover, and created 3D creature models for the game. Most impressively, Zaedyn spent over two years composing and recording a total of 55 tracks for Neyyah’s soundtrack
