Argentine studio Bicho Raro Games invites players to explore a decaying river delta, uncover fragments of a young girl's past, and shape her future when the demo launches on Steam on August 1.
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — August 1.- Argentine independent developer Bicho Raro Games officially introduces The Swamp Daughter, a narrative-driven 2.5D eco-apocalyptic adventure about identity, memory, survival, and the consequences of human actions.
Based on the award-winning novel La Hija del Delta by Argentine author and game designer Alejandra Bruno, The Swamp Daughter follows Julia, a girl born during a global pandemic and raised alongside her family in a dangerous river delta. As the remains of civilization slowly disappear beneath an ecosystem struggling to recover, Julia dreams of building a peaceful agricultural community and helping create a different future.
To achieve that dream, she must explore the swamp, gather resources, recover testimonies and objects left behind by humanity, and confront a family secret that has been hidden from her for years.
Players will be able to experience the world of The Swamp Daughter for the first time through a demo on Steam, available right now. The demo will premiere as part of Indie Dev Argentina’s Steam event, a celebration of Argentine game development running from August 1 to August 8.
The demo will be available to download and play in English and Latin American Spanish.
In the complete game, every decision will ripple through a branching narrative and influence Julia’s relationships, her journey, and the future she is trying to build.
The mysterious swamp is more than a backdrop. Inspired by the landscapes of Argentina’s Paraná River Delta, it acts as a living character filled with beauty, danger, ruins, resources, and clues about Julia’s origins.
As players move deeper into this dreamlike and deteriorating world, they will have to balance exploration and survival while confronting difficult questions about memory, environmental collapse, diversity, family, and the possibility of rebuilding after disaster.
