Monster Taming RPG Dokimon Quest: Free to Keep on Steam for 48 Hours

The acclaimed solo-developed monster taming adventure will be free to claim and keep forever from August 24–26, as Yanako RPGs celebrates new DLC, the reveal of Dokimon Quest II, and the upcoming release of Yami Kids

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOKYO - August 13, 2026 - Independent game developer Yanako RPGs is pleased to announce that Dokimon Quest, its retro-inspired monster taming RPG, will be completely free to claim and keep forever on Steam for 48 hours, beginning Monday, August 24 at 10:00 AM Pacific (17:00 UTC) and ending August 26 at 10:00 AM Pacific. Anyone who adds the game (normally $14.99 USD) to their Steam library during the event keeps it permanently — no strings attached.

Launched in November 2024 and built almost entirely by one developer over roughly 10,000 hours, Dokimon Quest has received two years of continuous post-launch updates. The giveaway is both a thank-you to the game's community and an open invitation for new players to experience the fully updated version — and to share feedback that will directly shape the newly announced sequel.

The celebration extends across the studio's entire lineup: Dokimon: The Great Fairy Island, the game's new DLC, will be 20% off from the 48-hour window; the sequel, Dokimon Quest II, has just been announced, with its Steam wishlist page arriving shortly; and Yami Kids, the studio's dark monster taming RPG, remains on track for release in September 2026. Note for fans: Steam wishlist notifications do not fire for 100%-off events — wishlisting the DLC is the easiest way to be notified the moment the giveaway begins.

“I spent 10,000 hours crafting the game I always wanted to play as a kid, and then two more years making it the best it could be,” notes Yanako RPGs's Yano. “I don't earn anything from this event — I just want as many people as possible to experience my first big game before I dive into the sequel. If you play it and tell me what you think, that's worth more to me than money. And I read every single review.”
