May 29, 2025 - Los Angeles, CA - A major new update for Dawnfolk introduces full modding support, unlocking a new level of creativity for players and modders alike. With Steam Workshop integration, new official mods, and a detailed modding guide, the update invites the community to customize and expand the game in exciting new directions.
Players can now:
-
Browse and install mods directly via Steam Workshop
-
Toggle mods in-game through the main menu
-
Build their own mods with a developer-made guide packed with examples
Whether it’s adding new maps, tweaking balance, or creating totally original content, the tools are now in players’ hands. Darenn wrote up a really fantastic guide for those interested in modding Dawnfolk here.
To kick things off, two official mods are now live:
-
The Light Spire – A powerful new science building for the Light Craters
-
The Icylands – A challenging new level set in a snowy biome, featuring the Iskaar, a new race that players can ally with and customize
There’s also a fan-made cheat menu mod, with more community creations already underway.
This update also brings a suite of improvements under the hood including major performance boosts (the game runs smoother than ever, especially on Steam Decks) and bug fixes galore thanks to many player reports.
