MONTREAL – WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2022 – Indie game development studio KO_OP today released a new teaser trailer for its narrative adventure game Goodbye Volcano High. First announced back in June 2020 as part of Sony’s PlayStation 5 event, the game follows Fang, a pterosaur and budding musician, and their classmates as they near the end of their senior year of high school.
Goodbye Volcano High is a story-driven, choice-based cinematic adventure game about personal growth, acceptance, and the power of community. The emotional, high-stakes teenage narrative adventure will take players on a journey of self-discovery, deciding how to live their life to the fullest when they know that their days together are numbered. The new trailer gives a sneak peek at the gameplay, showing off the branching dialog and revealing another of the game’s original songs “Don’t Call” (featuring Brigitte Nagger) as performed by Fang and Trish’s band Worm Drama.
In conjunction with the new trailer, KO_OP has announced the game will now be slated for release in Summer 2023. The game was previously delayed in August of 2021, citing a narrative reboot and challenges related to working remotely in the midst of a global pandemic. This new delay is attributed to continued issues related to Covid and the ambitious scope of work for the small team, detailing more than 6,000 recorded lines of dialog and a substantial number of bespoke animations.
Goodbye Volcano High is now expected to make its debut in Summer 2023 on the PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Steam platforms.
