Indie horror hit Home brings back the scares for a special 14th Anniversary update on PC, iOS and Android

BancyCo's best-selling indie horror hit Home gets a big update — and is currently free on the Epic Game Store across PC and mobile.

(For immediate release)

Toronto, Canada — October 22, 2026 — The indie horror game Home, which helped kick off a pixel art horror boom in 2012 that continues today, continues its long history of meaningful updates for players.

This Halloween release includes the innovative Postmortem Mode that originally launched with the Nintendo Switch edition, a behind-the-scenes gallery, and a host of technical and gameplay enhancements, including better controller support, 60 FPS gameplay, and much improved Steam Deck performance.

Postmortem Mode provides an in-game developer commentary that changes depending on the player’s choices — just like the gameplay itself. It’s great for curious fans or players who want to know how indie games get made and brings additional replayability to a horror staple that players love to play multiple times already.

And for the first time, Home is launching on the Epic Games Store, and is free from October 22nd to 29th on PC, iOS, and Android!

Co-founder Benjamin Rivers says, "No one could have convinced me that when we first released Home in 2012, it would blow up the way it did, and I’d still be working on it 14 years later. We still get notes from fans who played the game throughout the years, and we’re just so lucky that our little make-your-own-mystery horror game resonated the way it did. We’ll probably be updating this game until the end of our careers, and that’s okay by me.”

The 14th Anniversary update is also available on Steam, the App Store, and the Google Play Store.

About Home

Home is a murder mystery with a twist – because you decide what ultimately happens.
Awakened by an oncoming storm, you open your eyes to discover yourself in a strange, dark room – tucked away in a house that’s not yours. As you play the game, it changes – subtly, almost imperceptibly – to reflect your perspective. It's a horror game unlike any other, and as you'll discover, its truths are entirely subjective.

Originally released on PC in 2012, Home has launched on PS4, PlayStation Vita, iOS (where it was awarded Game of the Day), the Nintendo Switch, and has enjoyed several physical editions thanks to Limited Run Games.

The Verge called it “A sophisticated, horrifying narrative experiment" in an 8/10 review.
