An 8-bit action gardening simulation where players cater for visitors’ needs is set to be released on Steam early access.
The Kingdom of Gardenia offers a unique visitor review system where players discover and satisfy the tastes of the interesting characters that step off the train each day.
Players journey to the kingdom as Roman, a former soldier and orphan, who finds himself unemployed and looking for work. He comes across a job advertisement from King Theseus IV, who needs Roman’s help to rebuild the kingdom to its former glory.
Created by solo indie developer Little Ricebowl, who also composed the original music score, The Kingdom of Gardenia has a retro art style while also exploring modern and futuristic technology within the story content.
Inspired by games such as Stardew Valley and Theme Hospital, players complete four objectives by: earning stars from visitor reviews, impressing visitors with the wealth of the kingdom, filling the West Garden with flowers, plants and trees, and defeating the evil Bat King.
The Kingdom of Gardenia will be released on Steam Early Access on 1st October 2020 and can be downloaded from here.
