Cologne, 1 September, 2021 - Indie Arena Booth at gamescom proved a massive online success as millions interacted with the best indies of 2021 across multiple channels. More than 16,000 international visitors arrived at the Summercamp of Doom - a digital version of the biggest shared developer booth in the world. Players enjoyed demos of 2021’s best indie games, interacted with the devs, collected in-game stickers and watched the annual Indie Awards show.
The Indie Arena Booth took place as a gamified online event, a multi-day live stream and an online awards ceremony across multiple online portals. Below are the key successes:
- 16,000+ visitors to the Summercamp of Doom from across the world
- Total time spent in the Summercamp of Doom - 25,000 hours or 34 months
- 95% recommendation rate from Summercamp of Doom players

- 28.5 hours of live streamed content on Twitch across five days
- 1.1M+ Indie Arena Booth social media impressions

Not only the MMO event game and collaborations were successful, though: The IAB streaming show on Twitch hit an incredible number of one million+ views, featuring Let’s Plays, developer interviews and discussions around vital topics such as diversity and accessibility in gaming with Steve Spohn of Able Gamers and Riana Manuel. More than 63 percent of attendees experienced the Indie Arena Booth for the first time, showing that online events are vital to discoverability and help bring games to a new audience. In addition, €15,000 in prize money was given away to multiple winners during this year’s award show. Check out this year’s lucky winners here.
Indie Arena Booth will be back at next year’s gamescom, either in a hybrid or digital only format. We can’t wait to see you there!
