How many Dudes are too many Dudes? Developer Butterscotch Shenanigans isn't particularly interested in finding out.
Since launching on Steam on July 30, 2026, How Many Dudes has sold over 300,000 copies. Now, just three months later, the studio is adding even more Dudes to the mix with a major 1.1 update, arriving October 29.
This time, the Dudes are getting sporty, and they're ready to take the field! Soccer, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Tennis, Coach, and Broadcaster Dudes are joining the roster, bringing even more chaos to an already ridiculous lineup. These newcomers open the door to some important strategic questions, like:
- Should I give my Dudes Creatine or Ibuprofen?
- Would Basketball Dudes be better off playing Bongos or earning a Black Belt?
- And who would benefit most from Therapy, Football Dudes or Coach Dudes?
With these seven additions, the number of possible team compositions has more than doubled, taking the total from 850,668 to 1,906,884. That's almost two million different ways to assemble an army of Dudes, discover unexpected synergies, and put increasingly questionable strategies to the test.
But the Sports Dudes aren't the only newcomers. Update 1.1 also introduces Challenge Mode, giving players new challenges to tackle as they put their team and strategies to the test.
Plus, a reworked Upgrades system now provides permanent stat boosts and more freedom to choose how Dudes develop across multiple runs.
With more Dudes, more combinations, and more ways to experiment, Update 1.1 gives returning players plenty of new things to try, and newcomers even more opportunities to discover just how far an army of Dudes can take them.
