Green Games Summit – Ukie, ISFE and Playing for the Planet team up to launch new event tackling climate change in games

Two day conference encourages international games sector to share knowledge and discuss industry’s approach to climate crisis ahead of COP 26

UK games trade body, Ukie, have today announced that it will be hosting a Green Games Summit in October, in collaboration with ISFE and UN Environment Programme’s Playing for the Planet Alliance. The event is sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment 
 
Held remotely over two days on the 20th and 21st of October, the Green Games Summit will for the first time bring the international games sector together to share knowledge, discuss and shape the industry’s approach to the climate crisis and sustainability ahead of this year’s, UK-hosted, COP26. 
 
Games businesses from all over the world are being invited to attend the event to find out how they can become more environmentally sustainable, to learn from other games businesses about the latest innovative activities, activations and initiatives that are inspiring change around the world.

Ukie CEO, Dr Jo Twist OBE said: “We want as many people from as many games businesses signed up to attend the Green Games Summit. It will be the first time that international games companies of all sizes can come together to discover how they can make a positive impact on the climate crisis and to play a part in shaping what we as an innovative, digital, creative sector can do to become more sustainable ahead of this year’s, UK-hosted, COP26.”

The Green Games Summit also has international trade bodies Abragames (Brazil) and game (Germany), the European Game Developers Federation (EGDF), the Video Games Federation Belgium (VGFB) and the African Game Developers Association on board as global supporters, with more international representative bodies being invited to support the event.
