Experience Horrors Lurking in Soviet Antarctica in NEDRA on June 23

Unravel the eldritch mysteries of a secret Soviet research base before hypothermia gets you... Or worse

[Armenia – May 27, 2025] – Auteur developer Davit Andreasyan is proud to announce, in partnership with indie.io, his latest expedition into the horrific unknown: NEDRA, a first-person survival horror game, is launching on PC via Steam on June 23, 2025. Players don the skin and Arctic suit of Artur Arayan, a Soviet mechanic from the Red Star research base—about to confront eldritch horrors, brutal cold, and the disturbing truth that staying warm in the Antarctic night may be what kills him.

When an SOS signal cuts through the polar night, Artur joins a mission into the white abyss. But a horrific accident leaves him alone, wounded, and vulnerable in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth. His only hope lies in reaching the mysterious source of the signal: a hidden Soviet research station known only as Aurora. But survival will demand more than just endurance—it will require a chilling compromise. Players soon find out for themselves that heat and shelter are the opposite of safety under the cold light of Aurora Borealis: There are things lurking in the blizzard that have a taste for warm flesh.

Artur may be armed, but he’s no soldier—and brute force alone won’t save him. The creatures stalking the Antarctic dark are relentless, drawn to warmth like moths to a flame. As he delves deeper into the forgotten corridors of Station Aurora, Artur must use every ounce of caution and cunning to survive. As the horrors zero in on heat signatures, players will have to manipulate Artur's temperature, treading the fine line between dying of hypothermia, but remaining hidden from the creatures, or staying warm and alive, but not for long…Combat is possible, but it’s rarely wise. In NEDRA, stealth isn’t just a strategy, it’s survival.

Antarctica has long captivated human imaginations with its desolate landscapes, full of breathtaking beauty and implacable hostility to life. What lies hidden beneath the monstrous glaciers, among the forgotten lands of the ice-bound continent? Drawing on this legacy, NEDRA pulls players willing to brave its horrors into an intricate narrative where each layer uncovered answers some questions, but raises many more - and as players grapple with the implications of the terrible secrets uncovered, they will eventually have to make a choice that will test their sanity and resolve.

NEDRA is the creation of a solo developer, Davit Andreasyan, a twenty-year veteran of the gaming industry with a lifelong passion for horror and mystery. “The inspiration for the game came from a variety of sources,” he remarked. “While Lovecraft might seem the most obvious one, his influence is more thematic than direct. The main inspiration is Stanisław Lem's Solaris, about man confronting the impossible and the unknown, along with Edgar Allan Poe and, of course, John Carpenter's The Thing. Setting it in the Soviet Antarctic added a new perspective on a classic setting." Andreasyan sees NEDRA as just the beginning. The game is part of a much larger narrative world he’s been developing for years—one filled with interwoven stories, hidden histories, and unresolved mysteries. While NEDRA stands on its own, it draws from a deep well of original lore that Andreasyan plans to continue exploring in future projects.

NEDRA has already drawn early attention through its inclusion in Lovecraftian Fest and its haunting debut during Steam Next Fest, where players praised its chilling atmosphere and original approach to survival horror. Players will be able to uncover the horrific secrets of Soviet Antarctica on June 23, when the game unleashes its terror on Steam. Wishlist the game on Steam, and follow the developers on X/Twitter to prepare for an expedition into the cold heart of horror.
