Evercade announces Metal Dragon/Life on Mars Inde Dual Cartridge

LETCHWORTH, UK: Blaze Entertainment is delighted to announce a new dual-game cartridge featuring two "modern retro" titles by Spanish independent developer Kai Magazine Software: Metal Dragon and Life on Mars.
The Metal Dragon/Life on Mars cartridge brings together two modern releases originally designed for a vintage 16-bit gaming console. These games pay homage to classic video games and movies from their original host platform's heyday and also feature unmistakably modern game design and irreverent humour.
The new dual indie game cartridge will be part of the red-coloured home console line and be numbered #42. The price of this cartridge is £17.99, $19.99 and €19.99, and will be released in December 2024. Pre-orders will open on October 30th from Evercade retailers.
In Metal Dragon, players take on the role of an elite operative sent to infiltrate an enemy base and rescue the president's daughter. Although the mission is supposed to be covert, Metal Dragon has a short attention span and is easily bored, so things quickly turn explosive and violent! The action doesn't let up in this top-down run-and-gun title, and multiple difficulty levels provide plenty of replay value.
In Life on Mars, interplanetary repair technician Sam has been sent to investigate why a colony on the red planet has lost contact with Earth. An atmospheric action adventure awaits in this 16-bit exploration platformer inspired by classic '80s sci-fi horror movies. Players will explore the base a section at a time, gradually acquiring new abilities and upgrading their power to take on tougher challenges.

This cartridge will be released alongside the recently announced Toaplan Arcade 4 cartridge and will be compatible with all Evercade hardware, including previous, current and upcoming hardware releases. It is also compatible with HyperMegaTech! Super Pocket consoles.
 
 
Notes
Evercade was first released in 2020 as a handheld device with ten gaming cartridges of classic console licenses. Since then, it has grown to several other hardware devices (listed below) and now has over 50 physical cartridge collections and more than 500 games across the entire ecosystem.
The Evercade EXP-R handheld gaming system is available globally and includes the Tomb Raider Collection 1 cartridge.
The Evercade VS-R home console system is currently available worldwide from Amazon and other local retailers. It includes the Tomb Raider Collection 1 cartridge.
The Evercade Alpha bartop arcade systems are available globally, and each come with 6 built-in Capcom games and competition-grade arcade controls, plus full compatibility with all Evercade cartridges.
Evercade devices play games via emulation on bespoke cartridges. These physical releases come in a classic clamshell case with a full-colour manual, custom written by Blaze with controls, hints and tips, and interesting facts about the titles and developers.
Evercade emulates a wide range of systems (including 8, 16, 32 and 64-bit console, handhelds, THEC64 and Amiga home computers, plus arcade games), as well as natively run games. It also highlights modern retro games created by indie developers, with support for five decades of gaming.
Evercade cartridges have three distinct colour schemes to highlight their content. Red-coloured boxes feature home console collections from multiple systems across five decades of gaming. Purple indicates Arcade game collections, and Blue is for home computer collections.
In 2023, Blaze Entertainment launched its new brand HyperMegaTech! to provide more retro gaming products aimed at a more casual market. Its first four products, the Super Pocket handheld gaming devices, also come with Evercade cartridge compatibility.
