Eastwynne, a Fantasy CRPG Kickstarter Has Launched with a Demo Available on Steam

Eastwynne is a modern fantasy isometric CRPG set in a city where magic is part of everyday life. Players will take on the role of university students caught up in the world of the magical elite, where each decision and choice made will shape the story, meaning each player may experience a slightly different story. Ahead of its early access release later this year, there is a demo available on Steam right now, and a Kickstarter campaign is now live, to support solo developer Dee in funding the entirety of the game and providing community members with additional rewards or in-game content.

Dee, who goes by WTS₂, is a 3D animator, musician, and also developed The Consequence of Gods, a fantasy saga spanning multiple series. In 2018, Dee started working on Eastwynne, which was originally a spin-off of another project called Leech, a prequel so to speak. However, after developing the story more, Dee realised that Eastwynne wouldn’t be a spin-off; it became the first entry of the saga, rather than Leech. Eastwynne currently has a few episodes of an audio drama and animated series, and now it will be a game.

Trailer

You play as either Ester or Sye. Ester would gladly spend her days playing video games and never leaving her room, but ends up caught in the affairs of the elites and the state of the world. Sye is reserved and spends most of her days reading anything and everything. Playing as one or the other gives you a different perspective on the same city, with the world reacting differently to each of them. Each decision and choice made will shape the story, meaning each player may experience a slightly different story.

Eastwynne features turn-based combat, a magic system with specialisations, dice rolls, and storylines that can change based on what you actually do. The demo already has these features, and the V2.0 update that was released for the Steam Next Fest was a full revamp that brought in the isometric view, made Ester playable, added the magic system, the first explorable area, and early versions of the relationship and personality systems.

More Information:

  • Player Choices Change the Narrative: Outside of choosing specific dialogue, doing things in a different order, or even making a discovery has an impact on how the story will play out
  • Combat & Exploration: The spells and skills you learn as you explore, will help you navigate the world, both in and out of combat
  • Feeling Lucky?: Grow your character through skill progression, completing quests, and hopefully luck is on your side with dice rolls!
  • Play Together: You can choose to play alone, or choose a companion, as there are many characters you can meet, befriend, romance, or simply make an enemy of.

Download the demo today, and if you have the time, please do check out the Kickstarter!

As mentioned above, the Kickstarter campaign is now live, and Eastwynne will be released into early access later this year. For more information about Eastwynne or to stay updated on future developments, visit the official website, Steam page or follow on Twitter|X, and TikTok.

About WTS₂

WTS₂ is a 3D animator, singer (as dee.svg), and game dev. She has created a variety of projects of different types—her most notable work is a CRPG, Eastwynne. She’s heavily inspired by the media she grew up with: anime, music, and video games. That inspiration is clear in the stylisation of her productions.
