Key Features & Additions in Update 1.28
Dynamic Events on Sakhal
The island of Sakhal receives a major boost in activity. Patrol boats, both fishing and military, now appear along the coastline, potentially offering valuable loot. Ambulance wrecks can be found along main roads, providing basic medical gear, though they often come with a crowd of infected. Helicopter crash sites have also begun appearing across the Shantar Island and Burukan Peninsula, disrupting travel routes and drawing players toward fresh opportunities. Meanwhile, strange activity has been reported around hot spring zones.
New Firearms & Attachments
Two new weapons enter the arsenal: the R12, a semi-automatic shotgun with robust attachment options, and the RAK 37, a returning .380-caliber SMG featuring both 15- and 25-round magazines.
Scope & Optics Expansion
This update introduces three new scope options: the long-range Marksman scope, the updated PSO-6, and a low-magnification Sportpoint sight. Scope overlays now support damage states and illuminated reticles, while the rangefinder overlay has received a visual overhaul for better clarity.
Gunplay & Audio Improvements
A sweeping pass over firearm audio brings more depth and realism to all non-automatic rifles. The firearm lifting system has also been reworked, with the introduction of a new “pullback” state when weapons contact obstacles.
Vehicle Synchronization Rework
Driving in DayZ gets a major upgrade with a complete overhaul of client-server vehicle synchronization. This results in a more stable and responsive experience, even under high-latency conditions, therefore bouncy or floaty vehicle behavior should now be a thing of the past.
Vehicle Audio Improvements
Engine sounds have been refined across multiple distances (inside, around, and far from the vehicle) to allow better in-car communication while preserving a sense of presence and audibility for nearby players.

The DayZ team is not slowing down this year, so stay tuned for more news on what’s in store!
Our story began with our first game, Arma: Cold War Assault, which was released in 2001. Developed by just a handful of people, this PC-exclusive title became a massive success. It sold well over a million copies, received numerous industry awards, and was praised by critics and players alike. Since then, we've grown from a ragtag bunch of garage devs to an international family of over 350 professionals – working on Arma 3, DayZ, Ylands, Vigor, the Enfusion engine, and various other projects. Our ambition: to make games that act as platforms for people to explore, create, and connect.
