Beijing, China - May 22, 2025 - Bugtopia, the cute, cozy idle game about making bug terrariums from developer Nocturnal Games and publisher Gcores Publishing, is coming to PC via Steam on May 22.
A cute little rubber ducky woodlouse will serve as your guide in Bugtopia, offering gameplay tips and even reminding you to take breaks among works. Players take on the role of Bugtopia's caretaker, raising insects just on the other side of the screen. Purchase and nurture larvae, design your own personalized terrariums, and sell bugs for profit—or let them generate passive income. Expand your collection by unlocking the breeding box, all while enjoying a relaxing life alongside your tiny terrariums.
Taking on the role of the owner of Bugtopia, keeping the terrariums, observing bugs from outside the screen, buying and raising larvae, and designing their own personalized terrariums. Raise over 300 enchanting bugs inspired by real-world species, including 54 unique real-world-inspired species with bioluminescent/vocal varieties. Breed rare variants to complete your in-game encyclopedia and satisfy your collector's spirit.
Customize your terrariums to create thriving miniature worlds with 78 types of water, soil and wallpaper, plus 5 time cycles and 3 dynamic weather systems. Your ecosystem will evolve as bugs adapt to their environment. The game features 303 landscape decoration items with 754 possible variations, making each terrarium feel alive as it changes over time. Offline progress unlocks 451 additional decorative states.
Even during a busy workday, you can savor this slice of nature relaxation. Bugtopia includes a built-in Pomodoro timer and wallpaper mode, letting you play seamlessly while working. Listen to insect chirps and ambient white noise as your terrarium pulses with quiet vitality. Three automated feeder bots handle bug care for you—but that's just the start. Discover more delightful surprises and hidden easter eggs as you unwind!
"We hope that every player can find their own peace and healing in the game," says Dvion, Bugtopia's lead producer. The idea for Bugtopia stemmed from Dvion's passion for insect-keeping. As digital nomads, frequent relocations made real-world insect care impractical, so the team created a virtual sanctuary where players can enjoy the hobby without constraints.
Breed the bugs and decorate the terrariums. Bugtopia will arrive on PC via Steam on May 22nd for $5.99 (€5.89) with a 10% discount for two weeks. The game will support English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese languages.
