Camping Keeper, a solo-developed campground management game, enters closed alpha

PRESS RELEASE

Studio Durand, France, September 17, 2026

Camping Keeper, a campground management game developed single-handedly by Samuel Durand, has entered closed alpha. Ten selected testers have had access since September 17, 2026. It is the first time the game has run anywhere other than its developer's own machine. A public demo is planned for early 2027.

The group brings together management game players and a QA tester, recruited one by one from the feedback received since the game was announced. This phase is about putting the onboarding and the economic balance in front of players who did not build the game.

"Until now, the only player of this game was me, and I know the path that works by heart," says Samuel Durand. "What I want from this alpha is the first few minutes of someone who knows nothing: that is where the problems you can no longer see yourself show up."

Camping Keeper has players grow a campground from an empty field: bare tent sites where vacationers bring their own tent, bungalows, shower blocks, pools, shops and paths. Underneath it all, water and power are real networks with flow, capacity and overload. Undersize them and the showers run dry. Each camper is simulated individually, with their own needs, budget and preferences. They physically walk the grounds, queue for the showers, spend money, complain, then rate their stay online. Those reviews drive the campground's reputation, which drives bookings.

Camping Keeper is built in Java with libGDX. Every 3D model is built in code, with no asset packs.
