Osaka, Japan – October 7, 2025 – Developer World Eater Games and publisher DANGEN Entertainment have announced that Bittersweet Birthday will launch on Steam, GOG, Humble and itch.io on November 11, 2025.
Bittersweet Birthday is a unique blend of brutal, finely tuned boss battles and heartfelt storytelling. Every encounter is a one-of-a-kind fight with multiple phases that demands mastery of movement, timing, and quick thinking, while exploration between battles reveals a world full of secrets, side quests, and colorful characters. Alongside its challenge-driven gameplay, the game stands out with its hand-drawn pixel art, memorable cast, mini-games and an atmosphere that seamlessly balances intensity and charm.
The teams have released a brand-new trailer that reveals new gameplay, cutscenes and focuses on the protagonist’s third central nemesis, Cerie, a ghostly lady who resides alone in a crumbling mansion on the outskirts of the Guardian’s village.

Rocc, the Guardian of a secluded village, a hothead who must always be prepared to face the wrath of the Great Evil, a being that once nearly destroyed humanity.

How the Boy encounters these characters and what mysteries their relationships hold to the protagonist are up to the player to discover, if they can!
Bittersweet Birthday launches on PC on November 11, 2025, with console versions to follow at a later date. The updated demo is available now on Steam, where players can sample the hard-as-nails action, meet its eccentric cast, and prepare for the birthday of their lives.

About World Eater Games
World Eater Games is comprised of a small team of developers based in Panama. Though not a direct inspiration to Bittersweet Birthday, a few of their other favorite titles include NieR: Automata, Bloodborne, the Tales of series, Xenogears, Final Fantasy IX, and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. Bittersweet Birthday is their first major game development project.
“The main inspirations for Bittersweet Birthday are the earlier Monster Hunter titles, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, OneShot, Undertale and Hyper Light Drifter. These (and many others) are games that either through gameplay, story, or some x-factor have made a home deep inside our hearts. We are eager to share an experience that people can fall in love with and carry within themselves the same way,” says Ricardo Noriega from World Eater Games.
