BLATTER UP: THE GAME BAND, IAM8BIT ANNOUNCE BLASEBALL "DISCIPLINE" VINYL SOUNDTRACK

Two-Disc "DISCIPLINE" Vinyl Features Music by "the garages", Available Now for Pre-Order

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES -- March 5, 2021 -- iam8bit today announced its collaboration with The Game Band (not a musical band) and another equally lovely band "the garages" (an actual musical band) to produce DISCIPLINE, the vinyl soundtrack to the ongoing cultural event phenomenon Blaseball. The announcement was made during a live stream on the official Blaseball Twitch channel.

The Blaseball: DISCIPLINE vinyl soundtrack features music by Seattle-based "anarcho-syndicalist" lo-fi rock outfit "the garages" across two marbled vinyl discs. The album will be packaged in a gatefold jacket featuring art by Mark Borgions, and includes a mystery vintage-style trading card. Additional card packs can also be purchased.

More on Blaseball: DISCIPLINE Vinyl Soundtrack:

Prior to this record manifesting into existence, Blaseball had a reputation for containing absolutely no audio at all. But now, thanks to "the garages," a soundtrack has been concocted, themed upon the historically significant "DISCIPLINE Era," which was allegedly also the first era, inspiring the multi-dozen-member ensemble to write a whole bunch of songs about it. These songs include global smash hits such as "The Ballad of the Unremarkable Derrick Krueger" and "In The Feedback" - each of which have been listened to so many times, the internet gave up counting.

The soundtrack is available now for pre-order on iam8bit.com for $39.99. Orders are expected to ship Q3 2021.

About Blaseball

Blaseball is an absurdist, player-driven, corruptible, online game of baseball. It’s a simplistic simulation of a sport, built in the void of real sports, where players can view, bet on, and contort the league.

The key difference between Blaseball and baseball is player participation. Players will earn and lose a virtual Blaseball currency by placing bets on the games, and they’ll cash in their earnings to make changes to the league. The teams, the players on the team, the rosters, and even the rules of the game can be changed by the community.

Blaseball is almost baseball. There’s a single league of fake teams, with fake players, and fake schedules. Seasons of Blaseball are simulated over the course of several days. Teams will win and lose, storylines will emerge, and Blaseball history will be made.

About The Game Band

The Game Band is a video game studio based in Los Angeles. We aim to create games that reflect the world we live in. The studio’s debut title, Where Cards Fall, launched in September 2019 on Apple Arcade. Where Cards Fall was one of the eight recipients of the 2020 Apple Design Award. In late July, The Game Band released Blaseball, a massively multiplayer collaborative storytelling game that combines fantasy baseball and absurdist horror. The game quickly became a viral sensation.

About "the garages"

"the garages" are a queer anarcho-syndicalist musical collective that originally arose as a group of musically-inclined fans of the Seattle Garages, a team from the absurdist-horror game ‘Blaseball.’ They are made up of musicians from across the globe, ranging from first-timers to members of established indie groups. This “punk” band’s work spans everything from folk to grunge to country, and has reached an audience far outside its niche, reaching over half a million streams in just six months. They’ve also been written about by numerous publications, including a feature in Bandcamp Daily. By creating a body of work and a scene through entirely remote means, "the garages" are a testament to the tenacity of art's ability to create flourishing communities in difficult times.

About iam8bit
Founded in 2005, iam8bit is a creative production emporium that has quietly redefined the entertainment industry, time and time again. Collaborating with a plethora of partners and narrative-busting IPs, iam8bit punctuates the importance of engaging with fans directly. By creating the videogame industry's very first community events, the company injected the idea of experiential immersion into game and film marketing (back when it was simply known as "theatre"). iam8bit also played a crucial role in the vinyl renaissance, minting its first record in 2010, and is the industry leader in premium physical editions of top-tier games. The company is based in Los Angeles and co-owned & co-creatively directed by Jon M. Gibson and Amanda White. Visit iam8bit.com and follow iam8bit on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
