Annual Report of the German Games Industry 2025 published

Berlin, 14 August 2025 - How many people in Germany play video games? What is the most popular gaming platform? How big is the market for game apps? Or which federal states are rated particularly favourably by games companies? These and many other questions are answered in the Annual Report of the German Games Industry 2025, which was published today by game – The German Games Industry Association. The individual chapters contain a wealth of data on video game players, the development of the games market and Germany as a games location. There is also an overview of the work of the Foundation for Digital Games Culture, the Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body (USK) and the esports player foundation as well as a look back at gamescom 2024 and the German Computer Games Award 2025. A particular highlight this year are the interviews: Managing Director Sandra Winterberg explains in an interview why the International Computer Game Collection is unique in the world and what the next milestones are for this unique archive, which already contains more than 40,000 collected games. Nandita Wegehaupt, Managing Director of the Foundation for Digital Games Culture, explains the aims of the Press Start: Games Founding Grant. In addition, Julius Althoff, Managing Director of the esports player foundation, explains what the announcements of the esports team of the state of Berlin and the first Olympic esports games in Saudi Arabia mean and how they were received in the world of esports.

The annual report on the German games industry is now available to download free of charge in German and English from game.de and will also be available in printed form at gamescom. The printed edition also includes a market data poster.
