July 17, 2026: The team behind Necesse is excited to announce the release of a very special update, arriving on July 30 along with a Free Weekend promotion on Steam.
The update, entitled “Rust & Romance”, will significantly expand the game with an all-new Settler Personality system and an all-new “Scrapyard” incursion.
Rust & Romance is the biggest update to Necesse this year, since it’s the big 1.0 last October, and it's supported by Steam with a Free Weekend starting from July 30 at 19:00 CEST.

Rust refers to the new and challenging Scrapyard incursion. Fair Games’ own designer, “Stormes,” has gone all out for months, adding new mechanics, enemies, and equipment for players to enjoy. And of course, it also has a new and interesting boss at the end, with some fun, unique boss mechanics in Necesse. Like the satisfying Bumper Car, also seen in the trailer, which it drops once defeated.

Romance is the introduction of relationships with your settlers. The cosy vibe in your settlement just got even better, with your settlers enjoying recreation, like dancing to your music player or going for a jog. If you fancy someone, you can give them a flower to start a series of unique quests that might end with them falling in love with you. Jonas has been very passionate when making these features and has given them his own personal touch, which we hope shines through to the players.
Finally, the whole team has been working intensely to create new items, mobs and even music!
