BODEN, SWEDEN - May 27, 2025. Today 5 Fortress, a passionate indie game studio from northern Sweden, is proud to announce a major milestone: The Early Access release of the STRIDEN.
After years of development and dedication from a tight-knit team, the studio is officially kicking off its Early Access journey on July 11.

STRIDEN takes place when phones were used for making phone calls and were stuck to the wall with a curly cord. In the wake of escalating tensions between East and West, the Scandinavian Peninsula has been transformed into rubble with poisonous gas surrounding the few citizens that still are alive. They can’t stay and they can’t get out - this is the definition of being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
STRIDEN is an adrenaline-fueled multiplayer experience like no other, plunging players into the heart of conflict. Armed with a diverse arsenal spanning the history of warfare, players will engage in intense battles with the help of your friendly Moose Tank, Radioactive Bear and an Eagle. Capture vital resources, outmaneuver rival clans to be able to be the last group of soldiers standing.
The Early Access Launch is just the beginning. As players have experienced during the beta playtests, the desire to listen to feedback, improve and add to the game is paramount to the future of STRIDEN. The game will evolve and grow for years to come with the help of the community.
Open Playtest
Ahead of the Early Access launch, 5 Fortress will host one final Open Playtest, giving players a chance to jump in, explore, and share feedback before release. Interested players can visit the game’s Steam page to join the playtest and be part of shaping the game's future.

5 Fortress is an indie developer based in Boden, a snowball throw from the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden. The studio was founded in 2021 by Johan Sundqvist and Emil Darsbo, to develop unique FPS shooters of the highest quality. STRIDEN has been in development for around two years.
