1.0 RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED:
ASTRO BURN HITS 1.0 ON JULY 30TH WITH MONSTER FEATURES

Following a 150%+ backed Kickstarter campaign, Beyond The Pixels® lock down the release date for their bonkers, community-crafted cute-’em-up Astro Burn.

LONDON, UK - July 15, 2026  -  Developer Beyond The Pixels® and the publishing team at Pixel Doors today announced July 30th as the official 1.0 launch date for Astro Burn on Steam and GoG. Players can finally jump into the definitive edition of this high-octane space-cat shooter after months of intense, collaborative development during the game's Early Access cycle.

The team achieved this milestone following a massive surge of community momentum. Retro enthusiasts and physical media collectors recently rallied to push the Astro Burn Kickstarter campaign to 150% of its initial goal. Because these backers stepped up, the team over at 33 Games is delivering a premium physical release featuring custom USB cartridges, cassette tape soundtracks, and exclusive lore-filled trading cards alongside the digital storefront launch.

An Experience Evolved Entirely by Players

Director HaZ Dulull and his collaborators utilized direct player reviews, Discord bug reports, TwitchCon feedback, and live gameplay metrics gathered at events such as IGN Live to completely reshape the title from a raw passion project into a polished, feature-heavy Modern-Retro masterpiece.

To address specific requests from the players for more variety, deeper polish, and old-school arcade charm, the team added a massive wave of new content for the 1.0 launch:

  • The Epic Narrative Conclusion: Players can finally pilot Astro and her robot sidekick, AL, through the brand-new Levels 8 and 9 to uncover the emotional conclusion of their cosmic journey.
  • Unhinged New Features for Humans (and Felines): Introducing "Cat TV Mode" so real-life cats can watch three specialized entertainment channels, alongside a deeply relaxing "ASMR Mode" where gamers can unwind with ambient ocean waves and cat purrs between intense bullet-hell runs.
  • Competitive Co-Op mode: with 7 levels of Couch / local co-op competitive action on the same screens, so expect shoulders to bump a lot!
  • Speedrunners and Tacticians Re-armed: Speedrunners can now exploit brand-new "Speed Zones" (including a high-risk Turbo Speed setting) to optimize their time-attack runs, while weapon testers receive an upgraded front-and-back green projectile and a devastating 6-degree spread shot.
  • Weaponized Snacks & Kitten Rescues: Following community suggestions, the artists swapped out boring, traditional bullets for flying food treats, allowing players to defeat oversized bosses like PooBear on the Party Bus entirely with snacks. Players will also earn massive bonus scores by tracking down and saving lost kittens, triggering upgraded animations filled with popping bubbles and floating hearts.
  • Fully Verified & Globally Localized: Handheld gamers can now play flawlessly on the go, as the team secured official Steam Deck Verified status alongside full optimization for Valve's brand spanking new Steam Machine. The translation team also completely localized the experience across eight new languages - including Japanese, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese - using a custom, highly readable font designed for smaller handheld screens.

"We looked at every stream, read every single Discord comments and Steam Review, and let the community guide the development priorities," says HaZ Dulull, Founder of Beyond The Pixels®. "A great example of this was how we ended up implementing our Color Blind support mode (aptly named “Meowcromatic”) to the game; our community loved the Mono look & feel so much we reshaped it to a fresh alternative  experience paying homage to Mad Max Fury Chrome edition. We put it as a front of game option for players to experience and not just an accessibility option. The community truly built this 1.0 version right alongside us."
"We started Pixel Doors to back creators who listen to real humans, not corporate spreadsheets," says Nic van ‘t Schip, Co-Founder at Pixel Doors. "HaZ and his team perfected this game based on authentic interactions with players. We are proud to support a development team that views player criticism not as a hurdle, but as a direct blueprint for improvement."

Gamers can experience the ultimate culmination of this community-driven journey when Astro Burn officially launches into 1.0 on July 30th.
