Voodoo Announces Over 2,000 Participants have signed up to the Voodoo Academy

Launched back in April, the Voodoo Academy celebrates a recent admission milestone in cultivating the developers of tomorrow

PARIS - 21st December 2022 - Voodoo, the world’s biggest mobile game publisher, announced today that its Voodoo Academy program has recently passed an impressive milestone of over 2,000 participants enrolled. These sign ups have culminated in the establishment of a community of over 100 new hyper-casual studios.

Following on from its six billion game downloads announcement earlier this year, Voodoo launched the Voodoo Academy in April 2022. The learning program was designed to inspire and support the next generation of developers to build, test and improve hyper-casual mobile games.

The Voodoo team has continually worked hard to ensure the onboarding journey for new studios is as smooth and inspiring as possible. They receive coaching, tools, features and assets from the get-go as they build their first game, with support throughout to ensure they’re set up for success.

The Academy is now open to those looking to develop hybrid-casual games, in line with Voodoo’s publishing strategy for 2023. While still focusing on new hyper-casual games, the new strategy sees a focus on amplifying existing recent launches that are showing promise. Voodoo is also unrolling a dedicated learning path for game artists, to train them in mastering art in hyper and hybrid-casual gaming, as well as helping them to find partners to succeed within the industry.

Since the launch, there has been an engaging stream of activity for students beyond training modules, including bi-monthly live streams for the community to engage and collaborate, as well as incentivised game competitions. The current competition offers a prize of $8,000 to games in the following categories: Best Puzzle, Best Battler, Best Incremental and Best Playtime Metrics.

In some instances, the program has been extended to full time onsite immersion, combining training and practice - such as in Serbia (Novi Sad) with Tummy Games or in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) in partnership with GameFounders.

Stanislas Marchand, Core Studios Lead at Voodoo, said: “After helping to create 100 new hyper-casual studios around the world in 2022 and welcoming 2,000 participants to the program, we’re incredibly proud of the amazing initial success of the Voodoo Academy.

"We’re dedicated to continuing this success and providing the best possible training for new studios to enter the exciting hyper-casual and hybrid-casual space. Our goal is to keep training talent and create 100 new hybrid-casual studios in 2023!”
