Berlin, Germany - Toukana Interactive, in collaboration with kurzgesagt - in a nutshell, today announced a new Early Access release date for Star Birds. The game will now launch on September 10th, 2025, instead of the previously announced September 4th.
The change comes in light of the recently announced release date of Silksong, one of Steam’s most anticipated titles, which was revealed on the same day Star Birds announced its original release date.
The whole team was at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, showcasing the game’s Early Access version for the first time at the Indie Arena Booth.
Star Birds drew a constant queue of excited players, who won thousands of goodies — from stickers and asteroid jelly beans to Steam keys and a limited screen-printed Star Birds bag — after trying the game and spinning a hand-built asteroid gacha machine (crafted by Maximilian Haas, aka @boringbear_art on Instagram). Star Birds won Best Merch at the Gamescom Awards! To ensure both games receive the attention they deserve, Star Birds is adjusting its flight path. “It’s a small course correction - and one that many in our community suggested. We couldn’t agree more: giving Star Birds and Silksong their own moments to shine is the right move,” said the team at Toukana.
The developers also expressed excitement at the busy weeks ahead. With launch preparations, community feedback, and a swift replan of the schedule, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes. “We’re just as excited to play Silksong ourselves, and even more excited to welcome players into Early Access on September 10th. Star Birds is a chill yet deep base-building and resource-management game with automation elements. Players guide a quirky crew of birds as they expand across asteroids, manage production networks, and uncover galactic mysteries.
