Settle, Farm, and Relax in Firefly Village on August 11, 2025

A peaceful farming village awaits its newest dweller!

[United States] July 25, 2025 – Josh Koenig and indie.io are pleased to announce that Firefly Village will be available on Steam for casual farmers to move in on August 11! The village welcomes all players seeking a bite-sized, relaxing, casual experience. Forget about the daily grind, counting pounds of fertilizer, or studying spreadsheets to maximize yield per hectare: Instead, take a deep breath, kick back, and enjoy a smooth, polished experience to put the mind at ease.

Check out Firefly Village on Steam

Each player is a new arrival at the eponymous Firefly Village, a tight-knit farming community nestled in faraway hills. Rather than pay the market rate for the old family farm, Tilly, the local carpenter's daughter, decides to give them the land for free in exchange for a promise: To put the fallow fields and empty buildings to use, rather than have them gather dust and sit idle. With a bag of turnip seeds, a watering can, and a roof over their head, players are free to build their new home in the village.

The initial bag is enough to seed one field and once it is watered, players are free to strike out on their own, exploring the village and its surroundings, foraging for items to sell, meeting the denizens of the village, and learning the ins and outs of country life. Firefly Village's laser-sharp focus on enjoyment means that gone are conventional farming worries. As long as the seeds are watered every day, crops will grow and yield produce. Players can buy cows and chickens, and once they name them, they will manage themselves and provide milk and eggs, as long as players show them care and affection.

Beyond the farm lies the lake where players can pass the time by angling for fish, the old mine full of precious magical gems, and of course the village itself. Making a home in Firefly Village is as much about tending to the soil and the animals as it is about making connections with the townsfolk, learning their likes and dislikes, giving gifts (and sometimes experiencing rejections), slowly building up friendships, and earning a place in the community. Each of the four seasons comes with its own festival, plants, and ways to harness the soil. Winter, the coldest season, also offers a chance to turn newly forged friendships into even closer relations.

Time here is measured in moments that matter most, with days and seasons designed to keep life feeling fresh and manageable. Each season runs for seven days, an approach designed to make it easy to see the farm and friendships flourish without a long commitment.

Paired with bite-sized days, Firefly Village offers clear, satisfying progression that respects players' time. Whether settling in for a quick session or an unhurried evening, players are free to make themselves as busy as they want to. Work the land, explore the village, make friends - or simply kick back and enjoy the time as it goes. Firefly Village is above all about enjoyment and satisfaction. There are no harrowing deadlines, no looming threats, no penalties for failing to optimize farm work. There's just the land, friends, and the endless cycle of seasons painting the land in new and beautiful colors.

This idyllic experience was the goal for Josh Koenig, who remarked that his goal was “to provide a fresh take on farming sims, built around snappy, arcade-style pacing, to allow players to stay in the flow without getting bogged down by wilting crops and mandatory chores: Just pure cute and cozy fun."

Ready to take a break and move into Firefly Village?  The cozy little town opens its doors on August 11th on Steam, with support for both English and Simplified Chinese at launch. In the meantime, players can enjoy the free demo, experience the charming Egg Festival, and wishlist the game to be the first to know when it's time to move in!
