PC MMORPG Albion Online launches on iOS and Android on June 9th, releases new Dev Talk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Berlin, 2 June 2021: Sandbox Interactive, the Berlin-based development studio behind the fantasy sandbox MMORPG Albion Online, today announced the game's official mobile launch date: Albion Online will officially release worldwide on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store on June 9, 2021

This latest milestone will fulfill the studio's long-standing promise to deliver a fully cross-platform MMORPG experience to all fans of the genre. Rather than a simplified version of the PC client, Albion's mobile version offers the complete game experience on the same single global server as the desktop version. Character actions and progression are persistent no matter which platform is used, and players have the option to switch between platforms at any time.

Game Director Robin Henkys revealed the launch date in a new Dev Talk, which also gives a closer look at the mobile version in action.

What is Albion Online?

Albion Online is a medieval fantasy sandbox MMORPG with a persistent world on a single global server. The game offers a fully player-driven economy, a classless “You are what you wear” character development system, and a huge variety of PvE and PvP activities. Players are free to explore and settle a vast open world, join a guild, and claim territories through combat, politics, and strategy. The game was developed together with its core community through an Early Access Founder Program and became free to download and play in April 2019.

The game is updated constantly, and boasts a large and growing active community of loyal players. The latest update, Call to Arms, launched on March 17th and brought a slew of new improvements, chief of which was an expansion of the game's Faction Warfare system to allow beginning and mid-level players to experience large-scale battles with hundreds of players, even without being part of an organized guild. The Call to Arms update pushed the game's population beyond 650,000 Monthly Active Users, making it one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world.

Albion Online is available worldwide in nine languages on PC, Linux and Mac OS, with the official mobile version coming this June. The game is developed in Unity for all platforms, and is free to download and play, with all revenues coming from an optional Premium subscription, in-game currency and vanity item sales.
