Almaty, Kazakhstan — September 14, 2026 — Independent developer 1917 Studios and publisher Valkyrie Initiative are pleased to announce that Revenge of the Black Prince, the fifth story DLC for the hardcore medieval survival RPG Heads Will Roll: Reforged, is available now on PC via Steam.
The largest expansion released for the game to date introduces 19 new chapters spread across five full campaigns, alongside an extensively expanded version of Cambrai. The new stories take players across the blood-soaked lands of Aquitaine, the bustling streets of medieval Paris, and the war-torn Balkans.
Revenge of the Black Prince launches alongside Patch 3.0, a major free update available to all owners of Heads Will Roll: Reforged. The update overhauls character progression, expands combat options, rebalances numerous sections of the game, and introduces new equipment, events, mechanics, quality-of-life features, and technical improvements.

REVENGE OF THE BLACK PRINCE — STORY CONTENT
- King Edward’s Campaign
Rally under the banner of the former Black Prince, now King Edward IV of England, and march through Aquitaine. Restore his father’s honour, avenge past defeats, and attempt to bring the Kingdom of France to its knees.
- John Hawkwood’s Campaign
Follow John Hawkwood’s rise from a talented but low-born captain in the English army to the leader of the legendary White Company — the finest and deadliest mercenaries in Europe.
- Bartholomew’s Campaign
Escape Cambrai alongside Bartholomew and Jeanne, make your way to Paris, and attempt to carve out a place for yourselves in the medieval metropolis.
- Amadeus of Savoy’s Campaign
Enter the service of Count Amadeus VI of Savoy and join his crusade to the Balkans. Aid the declining Byzantine Empire as it struggles to withstand the advancing Ottoman forces.
- More Adventures with Grace and Glory
Continue the story of Grace and Glory as they uncover the identity of the mysterious client who placed a bounty on their heads, regain the initiative, and settle the score.
- Cambrai Expanded
Return to a considerably expanded version of Cambrai featuring additional quests, events, characters, battles, interactions, and branching narrative paths capable of taking the story in entirely new directions.

PATCH 3.0 — MAJOR FREE UPDATE
Patch 3.0 is available for free to all owners of Heads Will Roll: Reforged. Key additions and improvements include:
- More than 40 new weapons, armour pieces, helmets, shields, and trinkets
- Completely reworked combat talent trees featuring over 60 unlockable skills
- An option for custom characters to skip Cambrai and begin the campaign at a later point
- Unique new mechanics for bludgeoning weapons
- Major balance revisions and reduced difficulty across numerous mid- and late-game battles
- New random events and expanded versions of existing story sequences
- A redesigned and significantly improved Survival Mode
- Interactive environments in selected battles, including the ability to pick up weapons and items
- Adjustable combat text and animation speeds
- Reworked shop inventory generation and an expanded selection of available items
- New events and balance adjustments for the King’s Path
- Increased character attribute caps
- Code optimisation and performance improvements
- Numerous bug fixes and solutions to technical issues
ABOUT HEADS WILL ROLL: REFORGED
Heads Will Roll: Reforged is a hardcore survival RPG with a non-linear narrative and turn-based combat, set against the backdrop of the Hundred Years’ War.
Players begin as an ordinary medieval foot soldier whose primary goal is simply to survive. Through skill, careful preparation, difficult decisions, and a measure of luck, the character may rise to become one of the most formidable knights of the era—or perish anonymously amid the chaos of war.
The game combines branching storytelling with an intricate combat system that accounts for weapon proficiency, equipment, fatigue, injuries, character attributes, positioning, and a wide range of consumable and craftable items. Player decisions affect relationships, future encounters, available storylines, and the ultimate outcome of each campaign.
