The french indie studio Hibernian Workshop has unveiled the 2026 roadmap for Astral Ascent, their rogue-lite currently available on PC, PS5/PS4 and Nintendo Switch. To accompany the announcement, the studio has published a dedicated video on their YouTube channel. The roadmap outlines several updates planned throughout the year, including a new playable character, additional content, and further announcements to come.

Astral Ascent has been actively updated since its 1.0 release in November 2023, maintaining a "Very Positive" rating on Steam. The 2026 roadmap continues the studio's commitment to expanding the game post-launch.

Arven — The Wolf Blade, arriving May 14th on PC

The first update of the year introduces Arven, a new playable character launching on PC via Steam on May 14th, 2026. Arven is a close-range fighter who brings a new playstyle to the game alongside his companion Kat. He is voiced by Ben Starr in English and Tagui Omi in Japanese.

Arven is also a character in Hibernian Workshop's upcoming title Fallen Fates, currently in development, making his appearance in Astral Ascent the first opportunity for players to encounter him. The DLC is available to wishlist now on Steam.

Further updates planned for 2026
The roadmap also includes a Boss Rush mode, giving players the ability to face the game's bosses in dedicated sequences — a significant addition given the scale of Astral Ascent's boss roster. Steam Workshop support is also planned, allowing the community to create and share content directly through Steam.
Finally, the studio has indicated that a further announcement is coming later in the year. No details have been shared at this time.
