FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – June 19, 2025 – Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms publishing label and Knights Peak, in partnership with developer Slipgate Ironworks, have released the new “Rally & Recon” update for Tempest Rising on Steam. The hit real-time strategy game’s new major update features a variety of enhancements for multiplayer and beyond, including the ability to queue with friends, 2v2 ranked multiplayer, six reconfigured maps and more.
To celebrate, both the Standard and Deluxe Editions of Tempest Rising are on sale for 20% off starting today through to the end of the Steam Summer Sale on July 10! The Deluxe Edition includes the full base game, digital artbook, and the digital game soundtrack.
The “Rally & Recon” update is here! Queue up with friends and take on the new 2v2 ranked multiplayer mode. Today’s update also introduces spectator mode, main menu chat, and six reconfigured multiplayer maps, four of which have been set up for 2v2 play with special spawn locations, and two of which are designed as 1v1 “dueling maps” featuring smaller areas with symmetrical spawns. There’s also a variety of bug fixes and two new player avatar icons available as PROS sign-up rewards, accessible via the game’s main menu.
In addition, players who pre-ordered Tempest Rising’s Deluxe Edition will receive the new “Deluxe Pre-order Bonus Pack” today, featuring two main menu backdrop videos and four player profile icons. These exclusive bonuses will be available in-game automatically upon logging in.
Tempest Rising transports you to a battle-scarred 1997 in an alternate timeline where the Cuban Missile Crisis went nuclear. Experience two epic single-player campaigns, ranked multiplayer, and skirmish mode, featuring unique asymmetrical factions, classic RTS base building, and fast, hard-hitting gameplay.
