Summary of massive updates – Gloria Victis

IMPROVING THE FOUNDATIONS

Hello!

I'm Bart, and I'm the PR Manager at Black Eye Games for quite some time already. I have the pleasure to share with you my first Press Release regarding the recent progress we've made on our indie MMORPG, Gloria Victis.

There’s been a lot happening recently in the development of Gloria Victis over the last few months. We're even busier than ever and we rarely have some time to catch a breath – but we're still rolling out updates every single week!

With such a crazy updating rate, we’re able to develop different aspects of the game simultaneously despite being a moderately-small indie developer. It’s especially crucial for a game like this since Gloria Victis is based on three pillars – open PVP, territory control, and player-driven economy. The proper balance and interpenetration of those three results in great and immersive gameplay shared between all types of players – fighters, gatherers, builders and crafters.

IMPROVING THE FOUNDATIONS
In the last updates, we introduced a lot of improvements addressed to the PVP combat aspect of the game warmly welcomed by the Community:
– Chambering, which is adding much more thrill to the duels and smaller skirmishes. Chambering is a possibility to parry the enemy strike with well-timed attack od your own.
– Cleave changes, that helps to make battles fairer for smaller groups of players fending off enemy hordes. Cleave is a mechanic that allows an attack to hit multiple enemies taking into account special conditions.
– The crouching system players to hide, set up ambushes and use this tactic in skirmishes and sieges. – Mounted combat improvements and optimization. We improved the movement of the horses and balanced gameplay between on-foot and mounted players, so user experience while riding and fighting on the back of the horse and fighting versus cavalry is more reliable now.

And on top of that, we are going through a huge technological upgrade – the game engine is being updated, and that gives us much more power and possibilities in further development.

FISHING SYSTEM

Even if our game is PvP centric, there are times when players want to slow down the pace. A few weeks ago we were happy to introduce Fishing update, another alternative to dice poker and farming, which is giving the opportunity to relax after an exciting fight and greatly expands economical layers of the game.
COMMUNITY-RELATED CHANGES
We are constantly improving the community-related and gameplay experiences of the Gloria Victis. Our goal is to make the game a nice place for everyone, with a lot of interesting activities, a healthy community, and to cut as much as we can of what may impact badly on players or the game.

After consulting that with our Community on our official Discord server and in-game polls that were recently implemented, we decided to rethink and redefine the traitor system and remove it as a part of the gameplay, making it a sensible punishment for trolls and griefers.

We created the tools for players, and us, to fight the toxicity. After the changes, the number of issues and reports related to griefing, trolling and traitoring is reduced over four times and is continuously decreasing, and since we care so much about our dream game, we are really proud of it.
