SAN DIEGO - June 26, 2025 - Scarlet Moon and composer Osamu Kubota are pleased to announce the release of the Parry Nightmare Original Game Soundtrack. The eclectic score speaks to Kubota's character as a world traveler, intertwining everything from jazz and classical to electronic and pop. Kubota is best known in the gaming world for his contributions to the Beatmania series, the popular MMORPG Granado Espada: Sword of the New World, and as an arranger and orchestrator on KINGDOM HEARTS. Parry Nightmare, created by Japanese developer KAKUKAKU Games and published by Phoenixx Inc., is a smash-hit "parry heaven" title that has enjoyed rave reviews on Steam for its unique art style and addictive gameplay. In addition to music by Osamu Kubota, vocalist Emi Evans--best known for her contributions to NieR, Dark Souls, Star Wars: Visions, and more--lends her talents to the title's main theme, sung in French, which is presented in multiple ways across the album. "The process of creating this soundtrack felt like being repeatedly asked to create things never attempted before, and so the pressure was immense," reflects composer Osamu Kubota. "But that initial difficulty eventually transformed into a thrilling catharsis; an adventure born out of challenge. This game is profoundly philosophical, and it demanded a wide range of musical elements—from jazz and opera to minimal music. I have never experienced a project where the collaboration with the game creators was so intense, where we pushed each other creatively to such an extent. And finally, a long-cherished dream came true: a collaboration with Emi Evans, who graciously agreed to sing in my lyrics in French. I am deeply grateful that we were able to crown this project with a gem-like theme song!"

About Osamu Kubota
Born in Kanagawa, Japan, Osamu Kubota got an early start in music with piano lessons at the age of four. His many linguistic interests (Kubota currently speaks five languages) led him to pursue a degree in French literature from the University of Tokyo, resulting in a brief stint living in France where he was able to make his major record debut with a band.
He spent most of the '80s and '90s as a mainstream composer and arranger before making his way into scoring for film and television throughout Japan and China. He got his break in videogames contributing to the blockbuster BEATMANIA rhythm game franchise by Konami which has seen an eclectic mix of contributions from Kubota ranging from jazz and classical to electronic and experimental. As with his multilingual character, Kubota's newly interpreted classic/jazz spiked with ethnic flavors are loved by young players as "a gateway to the world." He has gone on to compose for some of the biggest MMORPG titles in Asia, including GRANADO ESPADA: SWORD OF THE NEW WORLD and THE HEAVEN OF THREE KINGDOMS and stays active as an arranger and orchestrator for major concert productions and recording sessions such as those for KINGDOM HEARTS, RAGNAROK ONLINE, and the BEMANI SYMPHONY concert.
