Live the Life of a Corporate Operative : Fractured Core is Available

Earn a living as a private military operative in a cyberpunk JRPG

[Indonesia] – August 13, 2025 – Good day, Engram Interactive, in partnership with indie.io, would like to inform all potential operatives that Fractured Core is now available on Steam. This classic turn-based JRPG allows prospective Raven operatives looking to join the ranks of the illustrious Athena private military company and experience the life of an elite corporate operator in a cyberpunk world full of intrigue, deception, and ruthless competition in every field, including military operations.

Set in a world of unrestricted human modification, artificial intelligences, and experimental psionics, players take control of a special forces prodigy, Michael Jones, beginning his tour of duty with the Athena PMC. As their newest squad leader, he leads teams of up to three operatives into increasingly dangerous missions under the command of one of Athena’s most renowned commanders. From abducting high-value targets and cleaning up containment breaches, to covering up embarrassing corporate secrets and unraveling megacorp conspiracies, he and his team will peek behind the sleek facades and futuristic streets to see that, as high as technology gets, this is still the same, dog-eat-dog world where nothing is sacred. 

Turn-based combat forms the heart of Fractured Core, drawing on classic JRPGs conventions and refining them into an easy to learn, but complex system. Each member of the squad is fully customizable and can be tailored to suit the player’s playstyle using a robust catalogue of weapons, armor, and accessories - further modifiable with chips and other attachments - and a wide array of skills, abilities, and items to use on the field of battle. If they have the talent, they can combine these with psionic abilities divided into six elements - Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, and Dark - and to blast enemies with flames, freeze them in place, or subject them to a punishing gale.

However, enemies have access to the same abilities, and each encounter requires a tactical approach and learning from the player’s previous experiences. Every enemy, from the lowest corporate goon, through zombies raised by a corporate biomedical experiment gone wrong, to the most dangerous combat mechs in the corporate arsenals, is defined by the same character system that makes the player’s operatives who they are. After all, mastering corporate wetwork is not simply about bringing the biggest gun to the fight, but knowing how and when to use it.

Beyond combat, players will also get to experience a slice of life in a future Germany and later Italy, whose elegant walkable cities and sustainable lifestyles obscure ugly truths about the human condition and the truth of brutal corporate rule. Why Europe? “When we were brainstorming for a setting for the game, we found out that Japan and the US have already been overused for cyberpunk settings,” remarked Timoteus Ivan Suprapto, lead game designer.“We thought ‘why not look for another highly developed nation as the setting?’ and then we chose Germany as we barely saw it used  in mainstream cyberpunk media.”

From this fresh perspective, players will also cultivate Michael’s relationships with other Athena operatives and staff, from the cat-eared receptionist greeting them in the corporation’s armored skyscraper, through Vega, his immediate superior, to the movers and shakers of the world of Fractured Core - both as allies and as targets.
