Kudzu is Invading Kickstarter - Grab Your Machete and Get Ready To Pledge!

It’s time to turnip the heat and unherb your enthusiasm with the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for this non-linear adventure for the Gameboy, Analogue Pocket, and your browser!

(Pittsburgh, P.A.) - In collaboration with Pie for Breakfast Studios, Mega Cat Studio, is launching a brand new kickstarter campaign for Kudzu - the latest retro homebrew for the original Game Boy! With a look reminiscent of old-school action-adventure RPGs such as Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon but is chock full of modern sensibilities. Fans of classical gaming are in for a refreshing new take on the genre and it’s coming to Kickstarter this May 25th, 2023  
 
Kudzu is a nonlinear isometric game about a humble gardener thrust into an adventure to save his mentor from the clutches of a world-eating plant! You play as Max and set out to discover the mysteries of the new Kudzu species surrounding your camp. Prepare to take on dangerous creatures such as bugs, lizards, snakes, rats, and many more! Navigate perilous environmental hazards and solve treacherous puzzles to move forward! Use your arsenal of gardening tools to clear a path and be able to explore ruined fields, gardens, forests, villas, and mountains. Developed using the GB studio 2.0 engine, choose to play on the original Game Boy with a physical cartridge or opt to take on the adventure on the Analogue pocket or even your browser! 

We caught James Deighan, Founder of Mega Cat Studios, pruning his bonsai plant out in his backyard. He had this to say “Games take inspiration from real-world activities and turn them into something fantastic: such as gardening or even invasive species we fight in on a global scale like the kudzu vine. As game developers, we love to take the mundane into something extraordinary. We’re excited to team up with  Pie for Breakfast Studios as they share our vision of making great games that put creativity and enjoyment at the forefront.”
 
Developer Chris Totten said, “Kudzu is a love letter to classic GameBoy games, such as Link’s Awakening and Pokemon. It will transport you into a world of danger, mystery, and excitement. Backers will be thrilled with our reward offerings, ranging from physical copies of the game, dioramas, goat plushies, and even custom machetes to take on Kudzu in the real world!” 

Kudzu is set to release in late 2023, and we certainly can’t wait to see the fruits of labour the developers have put into the game.
