ECHO: The Dark Is Listening reaches 100 levels on iPhone

21 October 2026. Crowmill has updated ECHO: The Dark Is Listening, a free puzzle game for iPhone that takes place in complete darkness. Version 1.2, released on 12 October, added three acts and a new creature, the watcher, bringing the game to 100 levels in 12 acts. Version 1.3, released on 20 October, rebuilt the first twenty levels: open halls became rooms with turning roads and side rooms to search, many of them holding a light.

In ECHO, a touch sends the player's voice out as a ring of sound. Walls flare where it passes and fade a moment later, so each maze is solved from memory. A whisper is safe but shows only a small circle around the player. A call lights up the room and charges the resonators that open sealed doors, but something in the dark hunts by sound and hears every call. The watcher, new in 1.2, moves only while an echo lights it.

Each echo comes through the iPhone's Taptic Engine in time with the sound, and the soundscape is generated live.
