In support of World Mental Health Day, Northern Forge Studios, creators of mobile games, Orna: The GPS RPG and Hero of Aethric, are introducing a new way for players to pause, breathe, and reflect — all within the world of Orna.
This week, players can visit Orna: The GPS RPG and take a trip to the Oracle Temple to access a brand-new Meditation feature, guided by Kairos the Wisp — a glowing spirit who leads players through short mindfulness sessions ranging from one to ten minutes.
The feature invites adventurers to take a moment of calm in the midst of battle and exploration, focusing on slow intentional box-styled breathing and the player’s individual presence.
“Games are often a source of joy and escape, but they can also be a space for reflection and grounding,” said Oliver Birch, Head of Product Growth at Northern Forge Studios.
“With this update, we wanted to encourage players to take care of their mental well-being. Players can follow a gentle in-game animation encouraging those taking part to “Breathe” and find calm between quests.
Recently we have seen meditation, wellness and language learning apps take mechanics from games and use them to engage their audiences. We flipped the script and took meditation and getting out and about, adding them to our game to intentionally relax and disengage our players!”
A Meditation quest can also be checked off alongside a number of real-world walking quests in a free Archpath battle pass dedicated to World Mental Health Day and available to everyone.
