[Tulsa, Okla.] November 3, 2026 - Independent studio F5 Games today released House of the Lost: Revived on Steam for Windows PC and Steam Deck, priced at $9.99 with a 20% discount during launch week. The release marks the end of one of indie gaming's stranger odysseys: a 2012 cult roguelike whose definitive version shipped on the ill-fated OUYA console, and then vanished with it.
House of the Lost: Revived is a top-down action roguelike that blends the chaotic item-driven runs of The Binding of Isaac with the dungeon-crawling spirit of classic Zelda, wrapped in a cartoon-Halloween world of cute-creepy monsters. Players descend into an ever-shifting haunted House to rescue their missing sister, battling through four boss domains where every run reshuffles the layout, the enemies, and the loot.
"The OUYA version was always the director's cut, you had a controller in hand, a friend on the couch, it was the best," said Brandon Pollet, founder of F5 Games and the game's solo developer. "When that console died, the best version of our game died with it. Fourteen years after the first players knocked on the House's door, this is the version we always wanted to make, on a platform that isn't going anywhere."
The Steam release features:
-
Randomized runs - the House reshuffles its layout, monsters, and secrets every time you enter
-
Weapon crafting - combine found items into wild new tools of destruction and discover game-breaking combos
-
Local 2-player co-op - the fan-favorite couch co-op mode, locked away since the OUYA era, returns
-
Four boss domains - each with unique enemies, hazards, and a climactic showdown
-
Full controller support - alongside keyboard and mouse, and a natural fit for Steam Deck
-
One fair price - no ads, no gacha, no microtransactions; every floor, weapon, and secret included
Originally released in 2012 as one of the earliest mobile roguelikes, and praised by TouchArcade at the time as "the closest thing to iOS Spelunky", House of the Lost disappeared from storefronts entirely in 2019 before F5 Games rebuilt it from the ground up. The revival returned to mobile earlier this year and debuted its demo during Steam Next Fest in October ahead of today's PC debut.
