REYKJAVÍK, Iceland – October 8 2025 - CCP Games, creators of the iconic sci-fi MMO EVE Online, today announced that EVE Frontier, its space survival MMO currently in early development, will be built on Sui, the Layer-1 blockchain originally developed by Mysten Labs. With more than tens of thousands of star systems and countless player-built ships, factories, and infrastructure set to populate EVE Frontier’s cosmos, Sui’s object-centric architecture offers a natural fit for modeling a virtual world of this scale and complexity. Additionally, Sui enables near-instant transaction finality, parallel execution of transactions, and more expressive smart contracts — all essential for bringing more aspects of EVE Frontier’s gameplay on-chain.
This announcement marks a significant step in CCP Games long-standing commitment to creating virtual worlds that are shaped entirely by its players. Building EVE Frontier on Sui represents the next evolution of that vision, marrying CCP Games expertise in large-scale sandbox design with a blockchain built for object ownership, composability, and scalability. This technical and ideological alignment ensures that as EVE Frontier grows, its universe can support deep economic interactions, sophisticated governance, and a truly persistent on-chain record of player history.

CCP Games is designing EVE Frontier to be massively moddable, empowering players and third-party developers to create new objects, structures, and systems called “Smart Assemblies”. This vision demands an environment where player-built content can be deployed safely at scale, without introducing vulnerabilities into the game world. Sui’s robust security model is crucial in allowing the community to build and deploy via Sui tooling in such a way that the compiled code does not compromise the integrity of the universe. In addition to Sui’s powerful combination of speed and scalability, CCP Games will also utilize Mysten Labs’ full stack of decentralized technology solutions, including Walrus, the developer platform for trustworthy data, and Seal, which provides native data access controls. Together, these enable new opportunities for players to leverage information asymmetry and exploit intelligence in their pursuit to thrive in the Frontier.

EVE Frontier is in the process of porting the current Founder Access build of the game over to Sui. This initial port will also aim to implement many of Sui's features to enhance the user experience, such as zkLogin for native account abstraction, allowing users to sign in with their email addresses, and sponsored gas fees for users, enabling onboarding without barriers and seamlessly bringing billions of player-driven interactions on-chain.
