ROUND ONE - ITALY’S PREMIER B2B ESPORTS EVENT IS BACK FOR 2021

Created with the aim of becoming a benchmark event for esports and an accelerator for the Italian sector, Round One will host key strategic players - including Twitch, Twitter and Red Bull athlete, Riccardo Reynor Romiti this October in Turin. It will incorporate the Italian Esports Awards on October 5.

MILAN, 09.29.21 – The Italian Interactive Digital Entertainment Association is today announcing that their B2B esports event, Round One, is scheduled to take place October 5-6 2021 at the Officine Grandi Riparazioni in Turin. October’s show builds on the success of last year’s event - which was attended by 17 speakers from ten countries and viewed 25,000 on Twitch.

Thalita Malagò, IIDEA Director General commented:

With 16.7 million Italians reporting to have played video games in 2021 and 1,620,000 Italian fans regularly following esports the event has the objective of bringing key stakeholders in the sector together, creating new domestic and international business development opportunities and evangelising this Italian success story. The event has been designed with esports DNA in mind and people being able to attend in-person or stream it online.”

The program - which will be streamed and which can be attended in-person - will include panels with international guests and will be the occasion for IIDEA to share this year’s Nielsen Report - The Landscape of Italian Esports 2021.

Tommaso Mattei Head of Consulting Europe, MENA & Mexico at Nielsen Sport & Entertainment commented:

“This year’s report is set to lay out some impressive numbers about the growth and maturity of esports in Italy - we’re delighted to be working with IIDEA to provide data behind the story of esports in Italy, how the market is maturing and what business opportunities this can deliver.”

In addition to Round One’s packed programme of events, the Italian Esports Awards will be hosted on the evening of October 5. The award ceremony, which will be attended by the great and the good of Italian Esports gives Round One and IIDEA the opportunity to congratulate the cream of Italian Esports talent across several categories - including Best Italian Team, Player, Caster, esports Event, Commercial Activation, Content Creator, esports Game of the Year and People’s Choice Game of the Year.

The all-star event is due to be hosted by Bryan Ronzani - presenter of major Italian esports and gaming events and founder on The Box - a popular late show on Twitch and Virginia Gambatesa a content creator who specialises in pop culture, design, cinema and videogames. It will be live-streamed in Italian on www.twitch.tv/roundone.gg from 7 pm CEST on October 5.
