Narrative horror RPG The Demons Told Me to Make This Game Drops First Demo — Watch New Trailer

Kyiv, Ukraine — May 13, 2025. Haunted Dude is thrilled (and slightly horrified) to launch the first playable demo and a new gameplay trailer for the narrative-driven RPG The Demons Told Me to Make This Game.

A darkly comic spin on eldritch horror, The Demons Told Me to Make This Game puts you inside the hero’s mind — literally. As a disembodied spirit, you possess amateur exorcists, twisting their thoughts and pushing them toward bold, bizarre, and frequently fatal choices.

All of this to save them, of course. The story of TDTMTMTG is told inside a series of time loops, allowing players to experiment with events to find the perfect sequence where everyone stays alive. One loop, a thousand terrible choices.

Grab the demo on Steam and watch the new gameplay trailer for an introduction to the game’s cast, setting, and key features. The first episode of The Demons Told Me to Make This Game is out July 2025.

Red Hives looks like just another quiet Midwestern town. You’d think that nothing ever happens here. And you’d be wrong. This place is soaked in tragedy, haunted by terrible memories. And now the demons have shown up, too.

This demonic outbreak is dragging Red Hives from dying to dead. The only ones trying to hold back the apocalypse are a bunch of amateur exorcists. Brave. Out of their depth. Hilariously underqualified.

Luckily for them, they can hear demons. They can hear Dark Wisp.

Summoned by a force beyond comprehension, Dark Wisp has been called up to save the humans by any means necessary. But as it bends their wills and twists their fates, one question refuses to go away: whose side is it really on?

Available in the demo

  • Loop 0: Of Tapes and Gums — Full loop available

  • Loop 1: Of Punks and Bees — Time Slot 1 available

Key Features

  • Master the Time Loop. Experiment with interconnected events to solve a series of time loops. Rewind time, adjust outcomes, and piece together the perfect sequence to close the loop.

  • Possess and Bend Minds. Influence actions through a conversation-based interface by invading thoughts and bending characters’ resolve. Indirectly shape their decisions without controlling their words.

  • Find the Right Approach. Each exorcist has a unique personality, and none appreciate a voice in their heads. To make them listen, you’ll have to find out and exploit their fears, desires, and beliefs.

  • Experience Midwestern Horror. Explore the eerie town of Red Hives, where demons are scary but the town’s deeper secrets are even worse.

  • Laugh at Eldritch Horror. The Demons Told Me to Make This Game blends Lovecraftian horror with absurd humor. In Red Hives, the line between laughter and dread is terrifyingly thin.
