Keep the news on air from home in Not For Broadcast: Lockdown, out now

Stay Alert > Control the Broadcast > Save Lives
25 JUNE 2020 - Today, developer NotGames and publisher tinyBuild are releasing a new bonus chapter for their satirical propaganda sim Not For Broadcast, as a free update to the Early Access title.

Originally planned for release over 10 chapters throughout Early Access, Not For Broadcast now introduces Lockdown, a special bonus chapter, written and filmed entirely within the current worldwide lockdown. Players can expect the frantic multitasking of running the National Nightly News to continue. However, they'll have much more to deal with than just radio interference and the odd swear.

Looking to bring some laughter to Not For Broadcast players stuck at home, this bonus chapter will follow the news team as they shelter from a rampaging hoard of animatronic children's toys - making the streets unsafe for the elderly, and those with pre-existing medical conditions. These are unprecedented times.

With a mix of returning and brand new characters, Not For Broadcast: Lockdown lets players see their choices in previous episodes turn into dynamic consequences - with unique endings and over 36,000 unique broadcasts possible based on past decisions (we did the maths). Seasoned players can also take on the new challenge mode, with 4 chaotic ways to run the National Nightly News!
NotGames Founder and Director Jason Orbaum said: "We were just days from the first shoot for Episode Two when the UK went into lockdown and all production ceased. We couldn’t do Episode Two but was there something we could do? We reached out to the cast - would they be willing to shoot from their homes, run their own cameras and mics, and attempt something a little different? Turns out they were!

"It was a conscious choice not to have a virus in our world. Our lockdown happens for altogether more surreal reasons.  We didn't want to write a novelty piece that would date quickly or that dealt too directly with COVID-19. It felt insensitive and unnecessary.

"We wanted to see how our kaleidoscope of characters would handle being in lockdown. We wanted to provide some laughter. A sense of shared experience.  And we felt we were one of the few games out there that possibly could."

Not For Broadcast: Lockdown is available for free to all owners of Not For Broadcast. For new players, the original game is priced at £11.39/$14.99 on Steam.

About Not For Broadcast
Look, mate - it’s not that hard. Choose the angles, roll the ads, and bleep the swears. Just keep in mind that how you show these people will change their lives. Don’t worry - you’ll get paid either way!

Not For Broadcast is an immersive, narrative-driven propaganda sim that lets you set the agenda. Mix four camera feeds, choose the headlines, bleep the bad language - all under the pressure of a live broadcast. Will you censor the news and be rewarded, or expose the truth and live with the consequences?

Not For Broadcast: Lockdown is a bonus free chapter alongside the ten full episodes planned for the game's Early Access development.

Features
Face the consequences, all of them
 - With 8 unique endings on 3 different paths, and over 36,000 unique combinations of possible broadcasts, your play-through of Not For Broadcast: Lockdown is heavily influenced by choices in previous episodes. We hope you chose well.

Break a leg, preferably a furry one -  As these strange toys become bolder in their tactics, it's now even trickier to keep the show on the air. Let's just hope one doesn't get in the studio, eh?

They think it's all over - The work doesn't stop when the cameras turn off - play an all new challenge mode with five brand new ways to run the National Nightly News. As if the usual stress of running the studio wasn't enough.

Always look on the bright side - Looking to forget about the tiny furry paws knocking on your door? Don't worry, The National Nightly News are here to distract you with their absurd take on life in lockdown. It's best to just take this on the chin, anyway.

About NotGames

NotGames is a British game studio that opened its doors in 2013 to attempt to save the charity that brought us all together. Coming from a bizarre background of Film, TV, Theatre and Comedy, NotGames aren't your usual game developers. If you're asking, we'd like to call ourselves 'multi-talented all-rounders', while our former employers would probably say we're 'unfocussed and easily distracted'.

Exhausted after the runaway success of the cult-classic NotTheNameWeWanted and the subsequent still birth of NotCoD (we don't like to talk about it), we took some time out to contemplate our navels in a dark room.

In 2017, we decided to get the band back together, with NotGames 2.0 combining satire, social commentary and original gameplay into the dystopian wonderland of Not For Broadcast.

After writing, filming and developing Not For Broadcast: Lockdown in 13 weeks, we're all very tired.
