Out of Tune games have announced that party game ‘Crooks Like Us’ is arriving on the 17th March 2021 for PC and Mac on Early Access via Steam.
CHAOTIC AND SLAPSTICK GAMEPLAY
The 1-8 player party game drops players into riotous robbery scenarios where the goal is to collect as many valuables as possible and get back to the escape van before time runs out.
Balancing more items at once will earn bigger score multipliers, but the Crooks become more difficult to control with each additional item on their stack.
Rival Crooks are out to ruin your plans and will throw items or dash into you, sending your stack sprawling around the room. If that’s not enough, each player also has the option to jump into the van at any point and make use of hilarious gadgets such as dropping anvils, making earthquakes, causing power cuts and more!
Steal everything except the walls in various themed levels: a Jewellery Store, an Ancient Temple, a Lost Mine, a Speedy Highway, and an Underwater Paradise.
As well as the option to customise the appearance of your Crook, there are also a range of different game modes which provide new ways to play for hours of fun:
- Free for all - grab as many items as possible before the timer runs out
- Last Crook Standing - knock down the other crooks by dashing and throwing items
- Teams - work in teams to grab the most items to win
- First to 25k - the first Crook to earn 25k wins
- Stack race - the first Crook to stack 10 items at once wins
- Stack the logo - stack pieces of the Crooks Like Us logo in the right order to score
24 HOUR STREAMING LAUNCH EVENT
There will be an ambitious stream-a-thon event of Crooks Like Us from 12 noon GMT on launch day (17th March) until 12 noon GMT the following day, consisting of 24 different Twitch streamers from around the world playing the game on their channel for 1hr 15mins each. This will cause an overlap in streams, ensuring there will be constant players online as well as non-stop streaming of the game for a full 24 hours!

TWITCH INTEGRATION
Streamers can connect their Twitch account via the settings menu to enable a really funny interactive chat feature. This gives their viewers the ability to type commands into the chat while the streamer is playing to launch some of the crazy gadgets at them in real time.

“We’ve been actively testing the game via Betas and demos all through development and we are so happy to unleash the game on the public via Early Access. The Twitch functions make it even more fun and we’ve watched plenty of streams where viewers seem to be having as much of a laugh as the streamers themselves,” said Out of Tune’s Mal Duffin.
Matt McCrum from Out of Tune added, “We really wanted to create a game that gave you lots of options, so you can be the field of play and make lots of cash or jump into the van and mastermind your menace from there - either way, you’ll have a lot of fun.”

ABOUT OUT OF TUNE GAMES
Out of Tune Games is a two-person Belfast-based games studio, formed in 2020 to take part in the ‘Platform’ programme run by Northern Ireland Screen. Mal Duffin and Matt McCrum started out as solo developers, brought together by their love of games and backgrounds as musicians.
