Hamburg, November 13, 2020:
The five Hamburg-based teams of the first Games Lift Incubator are coming out of three months of intensive workshops and coaching concerning the development and marketing of computer games. This year the coaching program was exclusively online, but still the teams had the Hamburg-based Code Working Space as their office. In the final event on December 8, the founders will present how the mentors' input has been applied to further develop their game concepts. Five utterly promising game ideas will be presented in a live stream. Registration is now open at https://gamecity-games-lift-graduation-2020.eventbrite.de/
After the successful relaunch of the Hamburg Prototype Funding in March 2020 that can support game projects with up to 80,000 euros, the new Games Lift Incubator started in September 2020. The program supports Hamburg-based game developers with the necessary expertise and resources to successfully develop and market their games.
For three months the teams refined their concepts and game ideas. In addition to start-up financing of 15,000 euros each, each team received office space in a Co-Working-Space as well as intensive support through workshops, mentoring and coaching by selected industry experts, and a PR agency specialized in indie games.
At the digital Games Lift Graduation Event on December 8, the teams will showcase their ideas and games live in their final presentations and give an outlook on their plans for the future.
The following teams will present their game projects:
Crumbling – Team Crumbling
Ole Jürgensen and Leonie Brosz are experienced VR-developers. With "Crumbling", they are now realizing their project with a unique control system, in which the players move the game characters through the world of the Crumblings as if they were playing with real-world action figures.
Alchymia – Julia Reberg
Alchymia is a turn-based strategy and simulation game in which alchemy, potions and mixtures can be used to prevent an imminent zombie invasion - if players use the right ingredients. The concept of solo developer Julia Reberg is aimed at players who enjoy trial and error and strategic thinking.
Leif’s Adventure: Netherworld Hero – OneManOnMars
OneManOnMars creates a 2D action adventure game with an asymmetric co-op feature that uses lovingly drawn 2D graphics to tell an exciting heroic story. Solo developer Roman Fuhrer's gaming childhood memories were integrated into the creation of the game, which he created with the support of friends and freelancers.
The Amusement– Curvature Games
A deteriorated theme park from the 1920s is the mysterious setting that Curvature Games chose for their story-based VR game. In "The Amusement", players discover the history and secrets of the park and its attractions through the eyes of a woman who had spent her childhood at the park. Thanks to the "Redirected Walking" technology developed by Curvature Games, players experience a new kind of VR gaming experience.
Ninja Brigade – Impawsible Games
Impawsible Games' four-member team takes players back to the 80s, with a retrowave soundtrack and an arcade look. The game character is pulled into an old arcade machine and fights his way through various levels in the setting of feudal Japan. The highlight: the composer of the soundtrack - metal keyboard player Jonah Weingarten - embodies the hero of the game.
Graduation at the Hamburg designxport
Can the five teams prove once again that their game concepts will have a successful future in the highly competitive games market with the experience gained over the past three months?
This is what the teams will be presenting in their final presentation on Tuesday, December 8, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.
The event will be broadcasted live from the Hamburg designxport Participation is free of charge.
