VR game contents developer Stoic Entertainment launched World War Toons: Tank Arena VR for Meta Quest 2 on December 8th.
This action-packed 4v4 FPS tank battle currently provides 6 unique tanks from history that have been re-interpreted in cartoon style, each with wacky yet strategic perks and special skills. For example, the T34 fires rocks in shotgun spreads, while the King Tiger blasts enemies with high-powered sniper shells. Some tanks generate shields, others can heal and some can even detect enemies beyond walls.
The VR interaction for each tank is also uniquely fun. Each tank has totally different reloading mechanisms, with some tanks requiring bolt-action reloads while others use revolver-like ammo.
There are also 5 tactical battlefield maps to choose from, along with game modes such as Deathmatch and Control for varying tastes.
One of the fun factors of the game is that the gamer actually enters the cockpit of each tank, fully immersed in their seats and manipulating levers, ammo reloads and even fire extinguishers and hammers.
“Our biggest emphasis for developing the game was to enable intuitive UI/UX for piloting and fighting inside a tank”, said Yoonhwa CHOI and Hongseok KIM, the CEOs of Stoic. “In fact, our art director actually designed the entire cockpits while wearing the Meta Quest 2 HMD instead of making them on 2D monitors. That way, we were able to definitively gauge the optimal distance and spacing for each interactive e object within the cockpit. Have fun!"
