Space Engineers 2 receives Modding Support with Vertical Slice 1.5

Modding arrives with the VRAGE3 Mod HUB and Editor—featuring in-engine workflows, dynamic block tools, and Blender integration.

Prague, June 24th, 2025 Keen Software House has officially released Modding Support for Space Engineers 2, currently available on Steam Early Access. This update introduces the first phase of modding support, bringing powerful new tools for creators and opening up entirely new possibilities for the game’s creative community. 

With Modding, players can now create, modify, and share their own content using the brand new VRAGE3 Mod HUB and VRAGE3 Mod Editor. These tools offer a fully integrated, visual workflow within the VRAGE3 engine, making modding more accessible than ever before. The Mod HUB provides full mod management and Steam Workshop publishing support, allowing players to build, test, and share their creations directly from within the toolset.

 

The Mod Editor includes pre-generated block templates, dynamic gizmo transforms, block animations, automatic generation of mount points and asset structure, and streamlined dummy placement directly in the editor. Full Blender integration is also supported via the Blender VRAGE Tools add-on.

 

 

This first release of modding support focuses on data modding, enabling creators to modify skyboxes, blocks, character models, tools, voxels, animations, and particle effects. For the first time in Space Engineers history, custom Armor blocks with full deformation support are now moddable, allowing for an unprecedented level of customization.

 

The Space Engineers 2 Mod SDK is available now in the Steam Library under the Tools section. To support creators, Keen Software House has also prepared official guides and example mods covering the entire modding process with the new VRAGE3 Mod HUB and Editor.
