“We’re so excited by this seventh chapter,” said writer and co-creator Ross Joseph Gardner. “It officially marks the halfway point in our story, and sees the comic’s setting, New Franklin, descend into civil war. The art team have done an incredible job.”

The Dark Between the Stars can be found as downloadable content for Half-Life: A Place in the West on Steam.

What is Half-Life: A Place in the West?

First published in September of 2016, Half-Life: A Place in the West is a fan-made comic book set within Valve's acclaimed Half-Life universe. Created by a team of five people, it draws on the rich mythology of the Half-Life universe to create an original adventure following Albert Kempinski, a survivor in search of his daughter, alongside intrepid scientist Leyla Poirier and fan-favorite Vortigaunt alien warrior Dreyfus.

While Valve Corporation is not involved in the creation of the comic, Half-Life: A Place in the West is an officially licensed fan comic using the Half-Life IP, available to read and purchase on the Steam platform through a specially built app and as a PDF document.

The first chapter is free to read on Steam, with the next fourteen chapters being available for purchase at $1.99 / £1.49 / €1.99 each.
