DUSKWOOD: Episode 3 is now available

Today Everbyte has released the 3rd episode of their mystery thriller Duskwood. Over the last months the mobile game has managed to turn several hundred thousand smartphone owners into keen detectives, desperately searching for a missing girl.

February 17th, 2020 – Today Everbyte released the 3rd major content update for Duskwood. Fans from all over the world we’re looking forward to this day and will now be able to continue their search for Hannah. Similar to previous episodes, also the new one is available for free can be and can be played in English, German, Portuguese or Russian.

Despite being available for such a short time (released late 2019), the game has already entered the Top-10 Android Roleplay Charts in many countries. Almost half a million people played the first two episodes and chances are good this number will drastically increase in the future.

Although it’s just a game players really do care (which we absolutely love!). We’re blown away by the efforts and interaction of the community on social media. This does not only apply to Hannah, the kidnapped girl, but also for the other characters the players are accompanied by.”

Vanessa Riess, Game Designer & Author of Duskwood

What’s new in episode 3?

First and foremost players will be able to continue the storyline and get answers to many open questions from previous episodes. They will also be able to intensify their relationship with known characters but also meet new ones. There is a plethora of hints in the upcoming dialogues (or in between their lines). Exciting new features and facts are waiting to be discovered by alert players which bring them closer on the track of the kidnapper than ever before. Overall the 3rd episode contains more content than any previous episode and takes players up close to their virtual counterparts. This is especially true for the most popular characters like cutie Jessy or the aloof Hacker, whose role still remains a mystery in this case. There are also technical changes, like performance and memory optimization that will be noticeable particularly for users with older, less powerful devices.

Who plays Duskwood? Is it interesting for me?

The audience of the modern thriller is spread across all countries and age groups, which is presumably due to the wide range of characters and a captivating story everyone can relate to. It’s played in a messenger like environment but you don’t have to be an avid reader to easily follow along. Your freedom of choice and the fact that you receive multimedia content like images, voice messages and even phone calls gets you close to the action and provide goose bumps especially if the kidnapper makes use of it.

About Duskwood Duskwood is a modern detective game in which the player is trying to crack a mysterious kidnapping case. With the help of a messenger and other multimedia content, such as voice messages, pictures and video chats, the player is on a quest to find the kidnapper. As a result, he becomes a target himself.

Duskwood is a small, quaint village surrounded by a dense forest. Strangers rarely get lost in this remote area and when they do, they always describe the place as weird or even scary. The locals of Duskwood have never been worried about this. However, in the last 72 hours, many things have changed and even among the villagers concerns are growing: A girl has disappeared and the mysterious legends that are surrounding the ancient forest seem to come alive… There is no trace of the kidnapped girl Hannah Donford. At least not until her friends receive a message from her phone. This message only contains a phone number… your phone number! This strange circumstance brings the group new hope, but what does that mean for you? ... Will you respond?

Features:

  • Immersive Mystery-Thriller: You are part of the story

  • Real People: Search through their profiles to find out more about them

  • Multimedia Content: Video calls, voice messages and much more

  • Spy Mode: Gain access to confidential information

  • Mini Games: Solve challenging puzzles to unlock additional hints and story segments

  • Entirely free and playable offline

The game is played in a WhatsApp-style messenger. The player does not play another person, but becomes part of the story as himself. Hints on Hannah’s whereabouts can be found hidden all through the game but the main focus is on the dialog with the other characters. They are embodied by actors and have an authentic life of their own. For example, they update their statuses, pursue hobbies and share news via video calls. Additionally, the player has the opportunity to unlock further hints and story segments by performing spy missions (such as hacking into cloud storage or listening in on private conversations). The plot is perfectly balanced between mystery and classic thriller, which offers players an exciting and immersive detective experience.

Duskwood is being released in episodes and is currently available in English, German, Russian and Portuguese. Other languages are planned.
